While it can be un nerving or uncomfortable, I am willing to bet the plane wasnt "out of control" Had a few experiences landing over cook inlet that were far from fun. Once so bad that if you werent buckled in you wouldve flew out of your seat and landed who knows where. FAs didnt even collect trash or cups or glasses on the descent. They couldnt have if they wanted too. They sat down, belted in, and said to put all trash and glasses in the seat backs. Not everybody listened to the stow away request and things started bouncing around on the floor. One things for sure...nobody ignored the fasten seat belt signs
