I have to disagree. I find QX to be extremely conservative in its operations. Since the airport was open and the weather conditions did not prevent safe operation, most passengers would see a pre-emptive cancellation as an overreaction.

It is scary and unsettling to fly through rough weather, though I'm not sure it is reasonable to expect communication from the pilots during an attempted landing.
