Finally Fixed: Feather Free Phone Reservation No Longer Gets Handicap Room
Anyone who has made a feather free room reservation over the phone has likely experienced being transferred to the ADA desk and winding up in the handicapable room at the hotel. To ensure against this, I've always requested to not be transferred to the ADA desk, which meant the phone agent had to remove the ff room request. This meant in having to call the hotel directly prior to the stay to let them know I need a feather free room and didn't want the ADA compliant room. Although the process was needlessly cumbersome, I'd gotten used to it and it worked.
I called the reservation line this week, told the awesome agent to remove the feather free room requests so I wouldn't get the ADA room and she told me the process had been corrected. Phone agents can note the feather free room now without having to transfer the caller. It no longer triggers getting the ADA room.
This was one of those situations where MI was insisting the process didn't net the ADA room, but the reality was it did. Apparently MI finally realized the reality and corrected it.
In the past couple months, I've had desk clerks at three different hotels tell me that they've increased the number of feather free rooms, so maybe this is part of an overall change. (Raleigh North Hills Ren, Southfield MI FS and an older CY that I've stayed at a couple times with a really nice desk clerk, but I'm not remembering where!)
Just thought I'd pass this along, in case anyone else was doing the multiple phone call route and didn't know this glitch is gone.
