If nobody comes forward and wants to operate the 7 x LHR-ABZ (for example), does that mean that IAG can use those slot pairs for whatever they want? As soon as somone else says, I want to fly that route, they would then need to cancel whatever is operating in that time period and hand them over?
Or can they not use them at all?
I believe its a case of BA offering the slots to other airlines and them having x amount of time to take them up on the offer. They will then have to operate the route for x number of years and after that time has elapsed they are then free to use the slot for a destination more of their choosing.
