First, I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a frustrating time. None of us like having to deal with hassles when on vacation!
I do think, however, that you're being a little bit unreasonable with the hotel. European hotels do have different standards than Americans may be used to (as do Asian hotels, etc.), and when we travel there we have to be ready to deal with that. Rooms are smaller, beds aren't as plush, and that's just the way it is across the board.
I've also had terrible luck with early check-ins at European properties. This is often frustrating because after flying a red-eye is the only time I ever really want an early check-in and they're never available! But again, you can't fault the hotel except maybe for the rooms not even being ready at the promised time (but this, too, matches my experience every time I stay in Europe).
You also can't fault them for not upgrading you to a suite. That's explicitly covered in the Marriott Rewards T&C. It sounds like they did originally get you two rooms together, as you requested. You weren't entitled to three free breakfasts, a bathtub, or an amazing view. The fact that they upgraded you to a suite instead of two separate rooms was actually them going above and beyond, for which I'd expect you to praise the property.
Finally, and this is going to sound harsh, YOU were the one who lost your wallet. I don't know what you expected them to do besides look for it. It is entirely possible you left it in the room and a housekeeper found it, stole the money, and claimed it wasn't there. It's just as possible it fell out of your purse when you were boarding the train, or any other scenario you can imagine. I just don't know what more you were expecting out of the front desk when you kept hounding them about it. It's a hard lesson, but maybe next time you won't travel with so much cash? The credit cards are easily replaced and traveler's checks could have been.
What I don't see has anything to do with anything are the fact that you were on points or how extensive your jewelry collection is. I'm also confused that at the beginning you talk about how your husband is a lifetime platinum but at the end you talk about your wife's jewelry.
Again, it's too bad that your stay wasn't perfect. No one wants to have a relaxining vacation tainted by frustrations. But if you've really flown over six million miles and spent over a thousand nights in Marriotts, then certainly you have to know that stuff happens. It doesn't sound like the hotel was out of line here in any way.
