I have a used Japanese make that the airline gave me as a replacement for one (non-spinner) they had damaged which travels well. I might be biased, but I don't like soft-sided luggage as I think it doesn't last as long as hard-sided.

I have a 29" Samsonite Silhouette hard-side spinner (latches, NO zipper) that has well over 4 years and 400k+ miles through USA, Asia, South America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. I frequently load it up to between 25-29kg in weight with no issue and can fit 2 weeks worth of clothes inside (along with running shoes and electronics, etc...). All wheels are intact and fully functional. The only damage is a small dent in the top right corner from Philippine Airlines, although this is cosmetic only and does not affect any functionality of the bag including interior space.

Before this case, I had a cheap JC Penny soft-case that had the handles rip off on me during travel. Also, it was left outside on the tarmac during a rainstorm and I arrived at my destination to a suitcase full of wet clothes.

I like the 29" so much that I bought a similar 24" for shorter trips. Will gladly replace the 29" with another just like it when it finally starts showing its age.
