The iPhone 4S works just fine on most 3g GSM networks overseas....just super expensive.
Yes, but the iphone 4S is not 4G even in the US (on Verizon at least; it is "sort of" 4G on AT&T, but not 4G LTE). I read it as OP needs 4G in the USA, but wants to use the phone on GSM internationally, even if it's only 3G there.
