I believe that:
* the Talk Board (of which chexfan was a member for some time) probably did also discuss this. What was the (dis-?) consent then, chaxfan?
* FlyerTalk (Randy) doesn't really mind, that FlyerTalkers profit (as long as it is not real business profit) privatly from 'exchanging' coupons/gifts ...; but FlyerTalk doesn't want to take any legal risks (and doens't want to have disputes with the airlines/ff-programs) regarding the general rules and that's probably the reason for the (not strongly enforced) written rules.
* I don't see big harm to me, when others 'barter' here - I am aware that the selling/bartering in the long term will enforce stricter 'conditions' and more burocratic work for us) on/with awards in general, but I think that award-'exchanges' on ebay etc. harm much more, than what is done here on FlyerTalk
* as a frequentFlier-Talk reader/user I now normally don't check the Coupon section anymore, as I am not really interested much myself in what is available (on the 'market' and for what 'price') anymore. Exeception: when I really just have to give away something (like recently some Australian Open tennis tickets).
