Question for the Africa FT experts.
I need a flight for two people from Maun, Botswana (MUB) to Cape Town, South Africa (CPT) on May 17th traveling with big backpacks to be checked. My options are:
1) I can book separately on Air Botswana (MUB-JNB) and Kulula (JNB-CPT) for a total cost of $414 per person (includes Kulula's baggage fees, it doesn't look like Air Botswana charges baggage fees?) I understand that I would need to collect bags in JNB and transfer them.
2)Alternatively, I can book through flightsite.co.za on what appears to be one itinerary for $470 per person.
Questions I am looking for advice on:
- Any recent experience with booking on Air Botswana? (I see posts from 2008 about credit cards not working)
- Will bags be automatically transferred if I go with option 2?
- Can stay in secure area on layover with option 2?
- Will I be charged a checked bag fee by Kulula or Air Botswana with option 2?
- Where will I have to pay the checked bag fee on Kulula?
- Will Air Botswana charge a checked bag fee with option 1?
- Can somebody confirm if flightsite.co.za is legit?
