HSBC is in on the act, too.
Last year, I opened a Premier account and got 100,000 HSBC points as my "Thank You Gift" for funding 150K+. I just got a call today saying that I'm going to be receiving a corrected supplemental 1099 because HSBC, due to an "oversight," didn't include the value of the gift points on its customers' original 1099s.
So it's not just Citi that's going down this road. It's very eerie that HSBC discovered this "oversight" in late March.
