That's not true, CX does pay nice salary to their crews. I think salary level should be linked to the actual salary level of that country.
I think it's more whether a nation/culture is service minded rather than whether they pay enough or not.
I tried DL TATL not by choice once and since then I'll avoid it at all cost for long distance flights. Bad food, bad service, no free snacks, no toys for kids, super baby unfriendly (not that I need that anymore).
UA is a bit better but still, I'd prefer LH over UA when I was buy tickets FRA-SFO.
