It is very interesting some of the views in this discussion. Initially I thought this was terrible, for me personally in what might be deemed as selfish, but I can now see some of the points and BA do not care who pays as long as they pay.
Be interesting to know how some people would view the following. I checked that there is availability to fly to Hong Kong or New York next week, did not go into the flexibility of the tickets so that could be a factor. How will some of the people who are for TA bookings being upgradeable feel if their MD, head of travel or whoever, says to them that they have booked into WTP and can use miles they have earned flying on company business to upgrade to CW.
If a company has say 10 people who travel on company business and lets say they do 10 trips each on average. If a company can save £2-3000 on say 5% of those flights, that is £10-15000 extra profit a year, bigger companies with a lot more people flying will be even more. I think some could be naive thinking that their companies will not start looking at this and telling people that they have to use miles if they want to fly CW. I am not sure how I would take to somebody telling me they left their last employer because they did not want to use miles to fly CW, just a thought.
