Welcome to FT.

CX is not dropping F. It is configuring some of its 777-300ER fleet as a three-class no-First 77G which will operate on select routes. The remainder of its 777-300ER fleet will operate as a four-class First-equipped 77H.

You are probably safe on YVR but no guarantees as March 2013 is a long way off yet. If CX838 were to be downgauged you could always switch to CX888 which given the continuation to JFK will I suspect be a First-enabled craft for a long time to come.
