Is the insurance on your cc provided directly by MasterCard through the MasterRental insurance program? Or has Barclay's opted out of that program in order to provide their own "better" coverage? (as appears to be the case with Ameriprise). Even in their description of coverage, linked above, it appears that Ireland is excluded.
