You raise an interesting question about when the proper time for intervention is. In a recent exchange regarding Middle East travel, the rhetoric got incredibly hot. In retrospect, I was as much to blame as anyone else, and stopped even looking at the section. I found that every one of my responses was getting more inflamatory. I wanted to see the thread blotted out, but wasn't sure that was right either.

As I said, in the end, I decided to drop out, but do we need referees? And if so, how do we referee their actions. I realize I'm rambling here, but I don't have an answer. Any thoughts?
