London's in England. Just to be clear Britain includes England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland plus various islands. The different bits have varying degrees of independence - Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all have their own parliaments. The southern part of Ireland is a separate country - the Republic of Ireland. You don't need to know the details but do avoid suggesting that Scotland/either bit of Ireland/Wales is in England - the natives are a bit touchy.

Second Hiddy's suggestion of Glasgow - it's a fascinating city and, whilst welcoming visitors, is not a tourist trap. Earthman is right though, Dublin is lovely.
