BUT, if I were to apply for a new AAdvantage World Mastercard, I would get cancellation coverage as a card benefit, but best I can tell, it covers only airline tickets....
So now I feel like dumping this AAdvantage card and picking up something else...Looking for maximum travel benefits and coverage, and Im leaning toward Sapphire Preferred....But Im sitting on 200,000 AA miles that will/could become somewhat useless if Im not adding purchase miles each month...
Anyone have tips or suggestions as to the best card and best way to retain the AA miles?
I would probably just book the airline tickets using some of the 200,000 AA miles. Dates of travel can be changed on frequent flyer tickets for free within a year of when the ticket was issued.
Also, when there is a major weather event like a hurricane or the Japanese tsunami last year, AA usually adopts a travel policy allowing people with tickets during those times to reschedule the trip.
I was not even aware that credit cards would provide travel insurance for all facets of every trip. That type of insurance is usually pretty expensive and sold separately. For personal trips, I usually use AA miles and hotel points, though. So if I had to reschedule, there would not be a penalty anyway.
