I like hiltons because with the exception of LA, they are in convenient locations of all the cities I go to.
Why should a hotel chain send you a book on a place you are visiting?? They are a hotel chain not a travel agent. I'd rather a chain I have status with not waste their money on stuff like that.

The only place I've ever had to show a card is the Delta Sky Club, as a Diamond with Hilton they just say hello and had me my key and whatever freebes I get for staying there (if they're not in the room).
As to getting a travel guide, even the ones at the hotels I stay at are a waste of time, particularly when I can get them for free from AAA.
