I was about to book a trip, which will be in a "high risk" locale during hurricane season. I was asked about adding cancellation insurance, and I stopped to check if my Citi AA card had cancellation coverage. I was surprised to find out that the Visa DOES NOT include cancellation insurance as a card benefit. And inexplicably, I cannot add this as a feature to my card.

BUT, if I were to apply for a new AAdvantage World Mastercard, I would get cancellation coverage as a card benefit, but best I can tell, it covers only airline tickets....

So now I feel like dumping this AAdvantage card and picking up something else...Looking for maximum travel benefits and coverage, and Im leaning toward Sapphire Preferred....But Im sitting on 200,000 AA miles that will/could become somewhat useless if Im not adding purchase miles each month...

Anyone have tips or suggestions as to the best card and best way to retain the AA miles?
