I don't think this is still the case... I think in the past, you had to browse to the 'regional offers' part of the website to buy a Laende ticket. However, now both the Laende tickets and SparPreis/Europa-Spezial tickets come up in the 'Sparangebote' column in the
bahn.de journey planner.
