We stayed at the Westin Paris last November and had a room on Rue Rivoli on the 3rd floor. Never again, it was so noisy we asked to be moved after 2 nights. We willingly moved to a courtyard room. Personally to me a hotel room is for sleeping in, not really bothered about the view. Then again we used to live in Paris so are used to the views.

Yeah this is my precise concern. My home town of Houston is a big city, but I'm spoiled in that I live high off the ground behind triple-insulated glass; so I don't ever hear anything. Plus we certainly don't make the same kind of day-to-day street noise that Paris does. I'm thinking I might be happier with a courtyard view considering I'm doubting I'll rarely be there anyway!
Though that is one heck of a view.
