There's a practical consideration which this rule doesn't address. An employee on a discounted (but not free) ticket can often get into the Admirals Club at his/her base because s/he knows and is friendly the staff. Imagine, do you see of the AAngels saying to a friend, "Sorry, you're not permitted in here." I don't.
