Today I changed an existing award reservation to New Zealand (for which I originally used 80,000 miles) to give me some additional time to make a connection. The agent had a lot of trouble ticketing the reservation, but eventually was able to make the change.
Then I log in to my account, and I see that an additional 160,000 miles have been deducted from my account. Now I can't get anyone to help!
Call #1: On hold 60 minutes, agent understand the problem, works on it. . .disconnected.
Call #2: On hold 40 minutes, agent tells me that 160,000 miles was the "award change fee." Thank here, move on.
Call #3: On hold 45 minutes, agent seems to understand the problem, works on it. . .disconnected.
Call #4: On hold for 20 minutes, agent tells me that I am mistaken and that only 80,000 miles was deducted. I politely insist that 240,000 miles were deducted in total for my NZ award. I'm currently on hold (30 minutes now), while she talks to the "award desk".
Not optimistic here. Any suggestions? UA Insider, anybody?
Do I just need to take a break for a few weeks, or do I need to get this fixed now?
Would calling Chase (I have a MileagePlus Explorer card) be helpful? Perhaps they have a program liaison or somebody who could intervene on my behalf?
Help!
