I do not know for certain but with the extra flights for the RWC last year I noticed lots of 737 flights with the old roo on the tail, not to mention the 767 that also came in. I believe there was one A330 flight into WLG but do not know if this was the latest configuration. On the whole I would be very disappointed with QF if they did substitute an old domestic 737 on this route, especially with all the advertising they have done regarding their new 737 service across the Tasman.
