The pitch attitudes and speeds that the aircraft was subjected to could easily have caused the airframe to break up. Fortunately the First Officer was a former RAF fast jet pilot and knew a thing or two about how to recover an aircraft from an 'unusual' attitude without overstressing the airframe, whilst having a rather large man on his back.....
