I called ahead to request the M37. Upon arrival there was a G25 in my spot. I went into the preferred counter and they said that IAH has received a memo 'from above' that they cannot upgrade anyone (PC or CC) into the M37 or any BMWs because they need to be trying harder to upsell the upgrade for the additional revenue.
I guess that is what those commercials mean when they say 'try harder'.
Until about a year or so ago, IAH always gave me a hard time getting their specialty cars (Challenger RT, Camaro Convertible, Infiniti, etc) because the "manager needs to approve it". I was typically on weekends and they refused to call the manager. Lately, however, they have given me anything I wanted that wasn't already reserved for a CHM. 2 weeks ago, they were very surprised when I turned down a 5-series for an MKT. In recent times, they've given me several BMWs, an M35 or M37 (don't remember) or anything else I requested.
