Actually running a bit faster now, I followed apple's advice and moved /library/caches to my desktop then deleted it. Made a huge difference.

I also suspect repair disk permissions doesn't do a proper job unless you do repair disk permissions beforehand. I just did it again and suspect it has worked this time
Istat is a no charge or donation optional widget that is a great systems monitor.

Go grab that install it and run it for me and well know more about whats going on.
