Any reason why you want to connect in LHR? Finnair has non-stop between HEL-JFK. You could save more by not connecting in LHR.
Is JFK supposed to be a stopover? It is a longer route to take from LHR to HND via JFK.
IAD/DCA counts as a segment but not an open jaw. This is a functional requirement of etickets rather than a rules restriction. Same is true for all coterminals.
