I'm sorry but where is it that you see me blaming anyone?
I'm aware how to make changes to the reservation. I wasn't trying to do this as I am aware of my ticket's restrictions which I wasn't trying to bypass. I was trying to see if it was possible to do a standby to an earlier flight, which I've learned is more of a North American concept that is not very common in Asia. Even with that when I asked about standing by to an earlier flight (note: NOT change my itinerary) the agents that I dealt with did seem to understand what I was trying to do and did try to help me but unfortunately their systems wouldn't allow to place me on an earlier flight. At that point they checked with someone else (by phone) and were told that this was due to my reward ticket restrictions.
So what I learned was that it's not that one can't standby on SQ it's that it's restricted to possibly SQ tickets and or non-award tickets. I'd like it to be different but I'm ok with this and at no point was I blaming SQ or anyone.
Btw, my ticket was booked with US miles which means that even if it was possible to make changes via US it would probably take longer to do it than to wait out until the original flight.
