Let me just correct myself, if you make any stop/layover on the way to SA, the RT award will only take you to your first point of entry. If you are on a straight thru ticket, you can connect. That being said it can be difficult to find routing to accomplish this. If you are planning now for next spring, you have a much better chance. I have never been able to do this on line. and even calling the 1K line, it takes several tries to get an agent who will willingly help you. I find Sunday mornings a good time to call UA.
