Having reflected on this flight, it served as a reminder of some of the details I like about the BA experience. For instance, the calm, crisp delivery of PA announcements. So it is a shame if this is no longer seen as a virtuous element in the training of new crews.

On this flight it was grating to have to listen to announcements that advance along the script sheet upward through the octave bands without any inflection and with last word of each sentence enunciated in a downward pitch returning the octave band to the level ready for the next sentence. Fine for crews of Virgin, Monarch and Thomson but really not polished enough for BA, IMHO.

chistery, did this resonate with you too?

Use of the divider screen. In my experience crews have always shown careful discretion in deciding when and when not to lower the screen. On the both this and the outbound flight it was lowered at every opportunity. Hot towel? The screen was lowered; amenity kit? The screen was lowered; more coffee? Again, the screen was lowered. Landing card? yes, you guessed it, the screen was lowered. Initially I could see my neighbour in 11J grimace but after the umpteenth cycle of the electric motor, he had the face of thunder. I too found it unnecessarily intrusive.

On the plus side, the cabin temperatures were comfortable - below 20˚C.
