I asked the CSR earlier about why I was so low on the list using a Regional - which should put me above everyone in line with UDUs, per the new rules. She said there must be 4-5 1Ks also trying to use Regionals in front of me, or other 1Ps who checked in earlier. I checked in exactly 23 hours, 59 minutes before the flight because I was banging Ctrl-F5 on my keyboard to refresh my browser waiting for check-in to open. The problem is that it was 8 hours later before I got on the list, so I'm stuck behind the others.
So far, five flights since 3/3, and all 5 have had an issue that has cost me a lot of time and a lot of aggravation trying to fix online check-in issues, upgrade issues, or mileage credit issues. I've gone ahead and booked a couple of flights in April on AA under their Plat challenge, and I'll see where UA is come May.
Personally, prior to a couple of years ago, I stuck with 1P status on UA and had Plat on AA and was fairly happy splitting traffic. With UDU, I had a good 22 months or so of first class seating. Now that I'm no longer 1K and it appears that upgrades are a thing of the past, even as a 1k, I'll probably just stick to 1P status and split my travel with AA.
As I've written in another thread or two, out of over 1.7 million miles the last 16 years, a total of 4,717 of them were on Continental. United is now Continental in everything but name, and if I wanted to fly Continental, I would have already done so over the years.
