Same with me. I called to switch to no-fee version and they said the $59 would not be waived even if they switch me. Only way was to cancel and then apply for no-fee card (which I am obviously not doing).

I asked for a manager because if I could cancel card and get the $59 refund and then apply for no-fee card, why not just let me convert and refund the $59 and save me the hassle.

Well manager gets on the phone and tells me "these are the terms, not making any exceptions." Then he passes me back to the rep and the rep doesn't realize that he un-muted the phone. So I get to hear them talking about me. They were complaining that I took advantage of the Match My Miles, that I only spent the $1,000 - that I got way more value out of the deal, they couldn't believe I was asking for the $59 waived. Complaining I didn't spend any more on the card. Also bashing me for taking advantage of the offer.

Well when he came back on I lit into him. I asked him "was there any term and condition of the Match My Miles that I did not do?" "Did I fulfill your terms that you made?" When he answered yes, I asked then what is the problem? Why do you have a problem?

Needless to say, at this point, I just flat out canceled the card. Don't care about the credit report hit and told the manager I would have my wife cancel hers and also will be closing my Capital One InterestPlus account that I had open with a decent balance as well.

At the end of the day I read about the poor CapitalOne customer service but had not experienced it. They would rather have tried to get me for that $59 then try to keep me as a customer. Hey, their choice. So stupid because now I closed the account AND got the $59 back.
