I agree; the solution to the problem is very trivial: Start boarding at the time printed on the boarding pass!

If a gate agent is so on top of things that he has the time to start boarding the flight 10 or 15 minutes early, certainly he can spend 30 seconds to ring up the AC so that those of us who are making use of our AC membership can know about it!
