Thank you for pointing out the JFK-HND-GMP option, I had forgotten about GMP's airport. However, given that the AA JFK-HND flight arrives at 10:30pm, and the first HND-GMP flight is not until 08:30am, I don't really want an 8-hour layover.
The layover for JFK-NRT-ICN (all on JAL) is only 2 hours. It's weird that if one searches for a paid itinerary, AA.com doesn't show first class for JAL. Anyone know why?
Regardless, it seems as if my only option is to find award availability on JAL for JFK-NRT-ICN. (unless AA change their sole JFK-TYO flight to something more reasonable timing-wise).
