The View is Worth It...

My girlfriend and I just completed a three night stay at the Westin Paris - we utilized the new Confirmed Suite Night benefit, and were upgraded to an Ambassador Suite.

While I understand that not all of the Ambassador Suites have an Eiffel Tower view, we were fortunate to receive one of the two that does have an Eiffel Tower view, and the view was absolutely spectacular - truly the highlight of our three city tour of Europe. We had a truly panoramic 180-degree view, from the Louvre on one side, across the Rue de Rivoli to the gardens, Napoleon's Tomb, the Eiffel Tower, and the Champs de Elyse, and even the Arc d'Triomph in the distance. In addition, we had probably 60+ linear feet of walkway outside to admire the view and take pictures. The view was so impressive that we actually ordered food To-Go from restaurants on two evenings, and ate in the living area, looking out the window.

With respect to noise we were on the fifth floor, and noise was not an issue at all.

While this may sound someone 'snobby' it's not intended in that fashion - my girlfriend and I both commented on how sorry we felt for those people who had rooms overlooking the interior courtyard, and not the views of the city that we had. If it were not for the spectacular view, we would likely have been sorely disappointed with our stay, as the rooms themselves (as well as the service) are, in my opinion, sub par.

Also, for those of you who would take advantage of the Platinum breakfast amenity, I would advise dining in the main restaurant well prior to 10:00 - they begin to break-down the buffet before 10:00, and service (at least for us) was non-existent at that point - we ended-up having to go to side-stands and pour our own coffee, and we were not able to get water or juice, as they were out. While they claim to offer the continental breakfast in the bar from 10:00 to Noon, the food is much more limited - no fruit, no yogurt, simply a basket of pastries brought to your table.

And, lastly, make certain to examine your statement upon checkout - despite having a pre-paid reservation, they attempted to offer me a 2700 Euro bill at checkout - fortunately, I was able to produce a copy of my confirmation.

All in all, the view was spectacular, however, if we could not guarantee that we would receive that same view in the future, I think we would strongly consider staying elsewhere, especially given the price.
