I believe with a 5000 foot runway, CCR could handle 737s too?
Of course there would be much screaming from the people near the airport who, when they built their houses, for some reason didn't notice there was an active airport nearby.
When I lived in the East Bay, I moved almost all of my flying to SFO when the BART line opened. Traffic into/out of OAK could be unpredictably horrendous, there was (at that time) no elite line, there is no airport lounge, and being able to ride directly to the airport (versus connecting to/from AirBART bus - which could sometimes be a major annoyance) clinched things for me. I also was flying out of OAK the first day that UA started CRJ200s (miserable aircraft) to LAX. Ugh and yuck.
