I suppose you can also check into a cash and points 1600pts $30 hotel for a month and just leave... checking in 25 times is just annoying as all hell haha.

But I would then wonder how much of a "return" one would get.... Lets see.... At 30 'legitimate' nights a year:

10 suite night upgrades x $50 = $500
Breakfast for 2 x $15 x 30 = $900
Plat Upgrade 20% of the time (6 x $50) = $300
Total = $1700

In another words, barely breaking even at the values placed on the certain plat benefits.

On another subject, they should seriously consider a new tier for cardholders whose spend exceeds say, $250k a yr. I don't really think this would "water down" the exlusivity of being a platinum.

Look at how high the discount rate to take Amex cards, I'm paying 2.9% each time a customer swipes a card at my place of business... so high that I tell customers that no amex is accepted until they insist or say "its my only card"

2/ I'm being cheeky - you can pay for 25 separate, nights in Starwood hotels, with your card, but you can't stay at the same hotel for 2 nights in a row. I think you could acheive this with only a $2000.00 spend, but it would cost you the $2000.00

The main downside is that you have to check in to a crappy hotel 25 times.

I do have to ask though, why you would want status if you are not a regular guest. It's only of benefit if you stay at Starwood hotels. If it's just for a single trip and you are hoping for upgrades and internet, etc, I doubt it would worth the effort.
