Indeed, Iīve taken similar approaches several times when the delay was entirely within the airlineīs responsibility, and sometimes I received some sort of compensation in the end.
What I was saying is that it isnīt easy to get the EU compensation, itīs not impossible, but it will generally require a fair amount of effort and usually much more than just writing to customer service.
The largest company offering to do all the paperwork for you is EUClaims.com who keep 30% of the compensation if the airline pays anything, I havenīt used them, so canīt comment on how good they are, but it may be worth a shot.
While there are many instances where I think AC should pay higher compensation, Iīm not sure this situation is one of them with all the labor issues going on.
