It depends. If the delay was weather related or caused by labor action the delay definitely is outside ACīs control and no compensation is due.

If it was a mechanical issue AC will probaby claim the same, however there have been court ruling which say otherwise, but you may still have a hard time getting the compensation.

If the delay was due to pilots calling in sick you may have a case, but I doubt AC will present this as the official reason for the delay.

In theory the compensation outlined in the EU regs. are very nice, but except for overbooking / IDB situations I havenīt come across an airline which will voluntarily offer any meaningful compensationl
