This will complete WN's destruction of everything which was good about FL.
This also solves DL's small airplane acquisition in a cost-effective manner.
I would welcome the 717 into DL's fleet. I always enjoyed flying FL's 717s
I think it would be foolish for DL to dump the A320, however. The MD-88 is old and thirsty. Better to keep the A320s and retire the MD-88s, or perhaps reduce both types by retiring leased aircraft out as leases expire. I don't see the economics of leasing a fuel-inefficient airplane, but there can be positive economics of own a fully depreciated fuel-inefficient airplane.
The ideal configuration would be to keep FL's 12 premium seats and remove one row of Y to make room for a few rows of EC and more pitch for ordinary Y, for 112 seats total.
Along with the 737-900ERs replacing the old 5500 series 757s, this could keep DL's fleet is solid shape.
