I can see how someone who scrapes together 25K over a couple of years may want to redeem them on something given flight availability is so very poor.
That said, Kate, you could definitely bring attention to how poor Aeroplan award space is, especially domestically within Canada.
Areoplan is a "
Frequent" flyer program. If they don't fly and especially are using credit cards to get points with this pathetic redemption rate then they should either fly or use a different credit card. I suspect the average person won't even see 25K AP miles in a couple of years more like next to none on cheap fares and once a year travel.
The redemption for chochkes at this rate is a waste of points. Better a 1 or 2% rebate card.
Note (to reporter) AP sells you points for 3 cents a mile. Then gives you less than a quarter of that. Food for thought.
