Flight length would matter to me as well. If it's a short DTW to MDW or LGA flight, I would just deal with it and switch to something else. If it was an international (or even a four hour DTW/LAS flight) I wouldn't be as accomodating (I would be polite about refusing and not a jerk about it). If I didn't have naything else to occupy my time with on a short flight, I would also probably decline the request.
