Thank You JRF. Good points.
Let's hope for the best but regardless, take individual action by direct communications with Delta. It's really our only hope.
Because our only other option would be to take our business elsewhere. And I know many loyal Delta flyers are not looking forward to having to make that decision.
On the subject of when airlines can notify you of changes, I know you are correct. They can do it any time they feel like it. But in years past it was either a law or some unwritten rule that you gave at least a full calandar year's notice of changes in a program. United did this when they announced major changes in Mileage Plus many years ago and actually created 2 programs in 1. Orignial and New. Even though I didn't like the changes, they at least gave enough notice so I could make a decision on if I wanted to continue to fly them, while not wasting part of "this years" flying for next years elite benefit package.
Slowly the airlines have been throwing this implied responsiblity out the window. I think it stinks and is one of the things I would most want to see included in any Passenger Rights guidelines or legislation.
Just not fair to change the rules in the middle of the game, IMHO.
