I haven’t been able to continuously monitor this thread. Sadly, I’ve squandered some of my leisure time planning a trip to Egypt via LatinPass miles: A mileage program I never would have heard about or participated in without this Board.

The big picture is getting cool tips; getting off a plane and having a drink with someone you only know over the internet; swank get-togethers; and reading insightful and hilarious trip reports.

The small picture is backbiting and the cult of personalities.

I notice a parallel: When a religious organization wants to ban an obscure book or film, everybody flocks to see it, giving it far more reach than it ever would have had if ignored.

Most annoying threads, if left alone, quickly die. If one’s intent is to have a flame war, simply shake the hornet’s nest.

I once (in my attempt to accumulate one billion posts, my only goal in my empty life) started a topic called FT Theme Songs. I now propose this:

You have to accentuate the positive….
Eliminate the negative…


Take the good, and leave the rest. This isn’t life and death, it’s a diversion.
