I, too, thought that the clock starts ticking on the date of approval which is exactly why I called to find out my approval/issue date. I first called for my Chase Sapphire Preferred and the CSR gave the that information. But when I called for my Chase Ink Bold the CSR said she couldn't give me that information for privacy reasons. I said, "Well, I just called for my Chase Sapphire Preferred and they were able to give me my issue date." The CSR said it's because the Ink Bold is a business card. That makes no sense.
AND the CSR for the Chase Ink Bold said the clock starts ticking after my first billing close date, NOT the issue date.
I'm going to call again to see what a different CSR tells me. I'll report back.
