It's not nitpicking, it's just wrong for someone to send out an email 24.5 hours before a flight when the first line states "It's less than 24 hours until you fly...". The whole point of the communication is to get people to check in, and is designed to be sent 23.5 hours before the flight, when checkin is actually open!

The programming screw-up is indeed the fact that daylight savings time is ignored - but it's nothing to do with the US change. The premature release of emails happens for 6 months a year - it will work perfectly well for another 6 months from next Saturday.
