I'm just wondering how much luck people have had with booking Saga class tickets and how many can we expect on any given flight?
I'm assuming I do need to be on top of the 330 days because there are most likely only 2 Saga award seats per flight. If this is the case we could split up and travel on different days.
The reasons I'm leaning towards FI is the posibility of a stop over in Rekyavik and only needing 80K for the business first seats. However, is this totally misguided and should I be looking at a different airline?
Any advice or input would be much appreciated!
IMO the main reason to fly icelandair, revenue or award, is value. They are cheap in both $ and miles. If you're looking for a modicum of comfort to Europe, I would recommend Delta at a minimum. While not great, DL's BusinessFirst often offers lie-flat beds, and at only 10k more miles per ticket, it's absolutely worth it. Of course all this is contingent on finding award seats on DL, which is always a tall order. AF/KL offers a great business product, though it is 20k more miles than icelandair.
If you're set on a stopover in Iceland and your companions aren't picky, I would consider flying coach. Depending on loads you may be able to get two rows to yourself, and it'll save you 100k.
