Service at the Park Milan is without question stellar, but that goes for ''regular'' guests as well. Diamond guests are treated well, but the term ''very nicely'' cannot be attributed to the Park Milan.
They, as well as Zurich, Hamburg or Paris, play by the rules, but do not really offer a lot on top of the guaranteed perks. Of course, a suite upgrade for free happens every once in a while and they also went ouf their way to do certain things for me in the past, but again, we are talking about the Park Milan, which considers itself to be a Top 20 property in all of Europe.
One should not compare the service with the Regency Dearborn...
Sounds like the writer has had a not so good experience with Hyatt in Milan, et al.
I disagree as to how Diamonds are treated by the Hyatt staff around the world. while yes on somedays one does not the the very best service I have never been disappointed, especially in Europe. With respect to the upgrades most times that depends on the available rooms and types at that moment in time. And yes the "mood" of the desk agent, however as a Diamond I have always gotten the "best" available upgraded room.
A point needs to be made is that we sometimes expect too much from status.
