Depends on where you want to go. US Airways might be the way to go if you have no other way of getting points. US Air + UR to UA could possibly get you four tickets to anywhere you want...

400k Avios should last you a long time, esp if you want to fly within the continental US or even Hawaii from LAX (only 25k RT). That's 4 flights for your entire family.
